A poor second half from Perth SC resulted in a 3-2 defeat to Western Knights last night at Dorrien Gardens in Group B of the 2025 Night Series.
The loss may cost the Azzurri the chance to make the semi-finals, with the team now having to rely on other results and victory next week in our last group game against Floreat Athena to have any chance of progression.
Despite conceding within the first 60 seconds after a turnover in midfield, Perth SC went into half-time 2-1 up courtesy of two excellent strikes from Michael Scafetta (7th minute) and Abdul Osman (40th minute).
But a sub-par second half led to the visitors equalising from the penalty spot in the 71st minute after defender Aiden Formston tangled with Knights striker Alex Pomeroy, who put away the resulting spot kit.
Knights midfielder Jesse Lazzaro scored the winner three minutes later with a strike from outside the box.
To rub salt into the wounds, Azzurri substitute Julian Kelly was given a red card for a minor skirmish with a Knights player in the 90th minute.
Perth SC now travels to Alfred Skeet Reserve in Armadale next Sunday evening at 5.30pm to take on Floreat Athena in the final Night Series group game.
