FOOTBALL COMMUNITY GETS BEHIND BRYAN

Jun 15, 2025

A big and generous crowd turned up to Dorrien Gardens on Friday night in support of a fundraiser for Perth SC NPLW U21s Coach Bryan McCready.

Bryan, formerly a coach at Carramar Shamrock Rovers and a much-loved member of the WA football community, particularly in the women’s game, is currently undergoing treatment for Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

All proceeds raised on the night, including gate entry, food and bar sales will be donated for Bryan’s medical needs. While the total number raised on the night is yet to be finalised, it is likely to be well in excess of $20,000, which will be in addition to the funds already raised via Bryan’s GoFundMe page.

The Perth SC Legends took on the Carramar Shamrock Rovers Masters as part of the occasion, before the two clubs fielded two female sides, with many of the players having played under Bryan at both Perth SC and Carramar Shamrock Rovers.

Socceroo and Perth SC Board Member Dino Djulbic put on the Azzurri shirt once again, along with club legend Robbie Puca, former Perth SC defender Trent Kay and several of the club’s coaching staff, including NPLW Head Coach Tom Glavovic and his assistant Fernando Barriero.

Former Glory, Chelsea and England representative Katie Holtham wore both the Perth SC and Carramar Shamrock Rovers shirt in the women’s game.

But most of the action occurred off the park, with the WA football community donating generously to support Bryan and his family.

Perth SC would like to thank Carramar Shamrock Rovers and Frankie Atkinson for their work and support in organising the fundraising event.

A big thanks also to the event’s major sponsors – Remax Extreme Currambine, Cheatmeats and Princi The Butcher – all the other sponsors who donated auction and raffle items.

Perth SC President Jason Marocchi said it was great to see the WA football community, particularly fellow NPLW clubs who were all well represented on the night, get behind Bryan and his family.

“It was fantastic to see Bryan on the night and all the love and support for him and his family, not only from all of us at Perth SC and Carramar Shamrock Rovers, but the whole WA football community,” Marocchi said.

“Bryan has told us that he is going to fight – and just like on the football pitch he has a whole team standing shoulder-to-shoulder ready to fight with him.”

Donations can still be made via Bryan’s GoFundMe page.
