The four Italian heritage NPLM clubs have come together to revive the Coppa Italia in the 2026 pre-season.
Balcatta Etna, Bayswater City, Fremantle City and Perth Azzurri will compete for the Coppa Italia next January – the first time the tournament has been held in nearly 40 years.
The Coppa Italia was initiated in 1982 and was a weekend carnival style tournament contested by all Italian heritage clubs in the semi-professional and amateur leagues in WA.
East Fremantle Tricolore were the first winners of the tournament and backed it up the following year. Bayswater Inter and Perth Azzurri have also won the trophy on two occasions.
Perth Azzurri won the last Coppa Italia competition in 1987.
The 2026 Coppa Italia format will be as follows:
Semi Finals:
Thursday 8 January
Bayswater City v Perth Azzurri – 7pm kick-off at Frank Drago Reserve
Saturday 10 January
Balcatta Etna v Fremantle City – 7pm kick-off at Home Group Stadium
Final and 3rd/4th Playoff:
