BLIND TEAM DEFEATS PERTH GLORY

Sep 14, 2025

Today was nothing short of stupendous, exhilarating, and momentous as the Perth SC Blind Futsal WA State Team recorded a 6–2 victory over Perth Glory in the highly anticipated second annual Clash of the Titans.

The Glory side — representing the Purple Power with stars from both their A-League Men’s and Women’s teams, including Brandon O’Neill, Callum Timmins, Ony Zogg, Mischa Anderson, and Cam Cook — approached the challenge with professionalism, humility, and great respect. Guided through a fast-paced introduction to Blind Futsal, they quickly adapted their skills to the smaller court and the high-intensity demands of the game.

Once the whistle blew, our PSC squad wasted no time. With blistering intensity, they stormed to a 4–0 lead within the first 10 minutes, setting the tone for the day. And then came the moment of the match: just 15 minutes before kick-off, I had introduced the squad to the incredibly difficult technique of striking a ball first-time as it comes towards you — something even sighted players often struggle with. Astonishingly, they absorbed it immediately, and in the first half turned it into a stunning fifth goal — a perfectly timed volley straight from a corner, rocketing past the Glory defence and goalkeeper. It was a moment that left the crowd in awe and showed just how far these players have come in their development. By halftime, the scoreboard read 5–0 — a testament not only to relentless pressure and quick passing, but also to their remarkable ability to learn, adapt, and execute under the spotlight.

At the start of the second half, I stepped in to lend a hand to the Glory squad — dusting off my boots as a “veteran of the sport.” Despite my best efforts to inject some old-school grit, skill, and energy, even I could only do so much to lift their game! The cameo was taken in good humour, added plenty of laughs, and reminded everyone that football is at its best when played with both passion and joy.

The second half also saw the Glory players adjust their visual restrictions (B2 simulation), which allowed them to find greater rhythm and respond with a spectacular first-time corner strike to make it 5–1. Both sides then traded chances in a thrilling, end-to-end finish, with PSC sealing the result at 6–2.

This match was about more than goals. It was a milestone in belief — our players pushed beyond what they thought possible, translating a skill learned only minutes before kick-off into a goal that will be remembered for years to come.

The Clash of the Titans once again highlighted the heart of Blind Futsal: skill, trust, resilience, and joy. Both teams played with passion and spirit, and the event left everyone inspired, proving once again that “can’t” is never part of our vocabulary.

Looking Ahead

The journey doesn’t stop here. Next Saturday, September 20th, our PSC Blind Futsal WA State Team will face the giants of the sport — the Supa Liga WA State Futsal All Stars in an exhibition match at Subiaco Futsal (Futsal WA), 3:00–5:00pm.

We’d love to see as many supporters as possible come down, cheer the team on, and be part of another incredible showcase of Blind Futsal in action. Your energy and encouragement mean the world to our players.
